Looking for some hidden gems in Cochrane, Alberta? Whether you’re looking for something to do on a snowy day, craving a delicious coffee, or just wondering where a nice walk view views could be, Cochrane has so much to offer. In my opinion, this entire community is a hidden gem!
In this blog post, let’s break down a few of my favourite spots locals love in Cochrane. As always, if you have questions about moving to Cochrane or living in Cochrane – lets get in touch! I’m always available via text, call or email.
How can amazing Columbian coffee and pastries get any better, you ask? What if they were in an amazing trailer travelling around the community!
Look no further than La Casita Coffee. You can find this charming trailer parked throughout town, whether it’s at the dog park on the weekends or at the Cochrane Ranche House or other spots. Try the Café BomBón: its espresso with sweetened condensed milk. You won’t forget it!
Once you have your delicious coffee to go, head up to the wonderful neighbourhood of Gleneagles. Perched high on the ridges overlooking the Bow River valley and town proper, this lovely neighbourhood meanders along the ridge around the Gleneagles Golf Club.
With plenty of on-street parking, keep an eye out for walkways leading to the trail on the ridge. Stunning panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies will greet you as far as the eye can see. Further along to the East, Calgary Olympic Park is visible just past Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. Enjoy mountain views, a birds-eye view of town, long trains passing through the valley and golfers playing stunning holes.
This is such a wonderful local spot. The Social Spot Marketplace is located right downtown on 1st street on the perfect corner. This boutique is a hub for local and Alberta-based creators and artisans to showcase and market their goods.
Having options like this right in the community is so great. Coming here for client & family gifts, treats and art is perfect for keeping things local and getting items everyone will love. So many options here – you can’t go wrong.
When Spring (finally!) comes, there is no place else to be but at the Cochrane Farmers’ Market down at Spray Lakes Sawmills Centre. This wonderful market runs spring markets in early April, then June to early October, and features vendors with farm fresh vegetables, breads, and meats. Local artisans also show their wares, from gifts to jewellery, unique clothing and beautiful artwork.
A perfect Saturday in Cochrane usually means a trip to the dog park, walk by the river, local coffee and a trip to this market. You can find exactly what you need for a fresh lunch or dinner, or grab hot food directly from the vendors while you’re there!
Life in Cochrane is something truly special. When you search for a home here, not only do you get incredible options for your family to choose from in terms of housing. You also get the amazing community and culture of this Alberta town.
