In search of a cold one after a big hike, and wondering what are the best local Canmore Beer & Breweries?
Everyone knows that Canadians are serious about their beer, and Albertans are no different! Alberta beers are shipped across the province, country, and the world over. As of 2019, Alberta has over 120 Craft Breweries, with a 7.1% growth in that number from 2018. Thats 3 craft breweries for every 100,000 drinking age Albertans.
With this in mind, it’s no surprise that Canmore has its own proud brewing tradition. We have three great local breweries that each offer their own diverse range of beers. Read on for their stories and best local favourite beers!

Few trips to downtown Canmore are complete without a fresh local beer on the Grizzly Paw patio! Their pub is a Main St. landmark. Grizzly Paw was founded in 1996 right here in Canmore, and has served millions of beers to tourists and locals alike. In 2018, they expanded further by creating Tank 310, their own event and restaurant space just off Bow Valley Trail. A must visit next time you’re in town!

Officially opened in June 2019, Sheepdog is Canmore’s upstart brewer. They are a small batch brewer focuses on quality ingredients, community engagement, and rotating taps for great variety. For a relative newcomer though, they’ve already made waves by winning a medal for 2019 New Brewery of the Year at the Alberta Beer Awards. Their local Elk Run location is the perfect place for a pint after work – plus, its both dog and family friendly!

Established in 2016, Canmore Brewing company is all about people, respect, and the community! You’d be hard pressed to find a sunny summer afternoon where there aren’t many bikes parked out front, their owners inside enjoying a glass. Tucked away just off Railway Ave near Safeway, drop in for an informative tour of their facility! You can even have a few beers as part of the “learning process.”
If you’re ever in town and would like to meet for a beer and chat about real estate, give me a shout! I’m always game for a pint after a long road cycle ride, day on the ski hill, or hike with the pup. Cheers!
